Blau is skin fermented Blaufränkish with a splash of blueberry cider. Grown in Niagara-on-the-Lake and planted in 2020.
Like each of our wines, Blau was wild fermented with our native microflora, unfiltered and unfined.
This year, Blau is something special. After ageing in cans for 4 months, we were shocked and amazed by the aromas we discovered.
What's it like? Blau smells like banana bread baked with Twizzlers, star anise and candy apples — all at the same time. Blueberry acidity melds with plush grape tannins to create a satiny texture. The result is a wine that almost feels like an aperitif or liqueur, but lighter and more sprightly.
It's a wild, aromatic adventure.
Blau will be enjoyed just as much by your friend dipping their toes into natural wine, as the one who's had every bottle from the most hyped producers.
Each can holds half a bottle of wine (2-3 generous glasses).
9.1% ABV | 375mL
Ingredients: Apples, grapes, blueberries. Gluten free.
Wild ferment. Zero added sugar. Vegan friendly.
These cans are sparkling and must be chilled before opening.

Blau is Wow!
This fantastic combination of blau wine and blueberry cider is hard to describe and that’s a good thing. The company tasting notes are accurate, but there’s more.
The mouthfeel resembled satin, but is curiously both crisp and rich. The tastes are complex, but not not overpowering. The finish is brief, which for me meant I wanted another taste. That’s as solid a testament I can give to any product. My only regret is I only bought one can along with other offerings yet to e tasted and reviewed.
Doubtless the drink could work well on a beach on a warm day likely certainly resulting in a nap given the ABV., but it works anywhere from a fine charcuterie board and spicy Asian cuisine. Given the ABV anyone objecting to the price tag should do a little math for a decent cider approaching $4 at half the ABV or a bottle of decent wine over $20 for twice the quantity. Frankly the math for this quality in this format is underpriced at $9.50. This is a premium to super premium offering.
If you want a grab-and-go cider or wine buy anything. If you want something special because you and your guests deserve it buy this, but please wait a week or so so I can score some more.
