Blau is skin fermented Blaufränkish with a splash of blueberry cider. Grown in Niagara-on-the-Lake and planted in 2020.
Like each of our wines, Blau was wild fermented with our native microflora, unfiltered and unfined.
This year, Blau is something special. After ageing in cans for 4 months, we were shocked and amazed by the aromas we discovered.
What's it like? Blau smells like banana bread baked with Twizzlers, star anise and candy apples — all at the same time. Blueberry acidity melds with plush grape tannins to create a satiny texture. The result is a wine that almost feels like an aperitif or liqueur, but lighter and more sprightly.
It's a wild, aromatic adventure.
Blau will be enjoyed just as much by your friend dipping their toes into natural wine, as the one who's had every bottle from the most hyped producers.
Each can holds half a bottle of wine (2-3 generous glasses).
